Heading to Chicago yet again

Hey all,
So I've been bouncing around the country a little bit as of late and this weekend I am headed back to Chicago again for a couple days. I make no promises as to music stuff, but things tend to happen when I'm out there so if new recordings miraculously appear as a result of the trip, rest assured I will put them up here. Also, I just went to a really really cool workshop about gender and gender roles, regulations and stereotyping, and it was a lot of fun, so I guess if you have any extra thinking time in your life, think about how gender affects you. Hurray for gender! Also happy belated birthday to my sister, and, on another completely unrelated note, a recipe:

Delicious Lunch of Some Favorite Things from Mexico

Take yellow mustard and mayonnaise and mix them together on two slices of bread (not too thickly; that would be gross.) Toast the slices of bread for optimum deliciousness. Slice some cheese if you want and put it on one of the slices (I like it without but some people like a more full-feeling sandwich). Also slice tomatoes and avocados thinly and put them on it. You can add ham or turkey if you eat ham or turkey. Close the sandwich. Fill a glass 1/4 full of lemon juice, add a little lime juice, and add about 6 big spoonfuls of sugar and mix it up, then fill the rest of the glass with water. Squirt lime juice on a bunch of peanuts and then sprinkle a little red pepper on them. Slice up a mango. Put everything on a plate and eat it.

This recipe is actually added for the benefit of the friends I made at Hampshire College, who seemed to really like my ideas about food and told me they would go to my website if I put recipes on it. I promise more will be forthcoming, but if you think my ideas about food are dumb or bad, feel free to ignore the random recipes as you see fit. Peace.

New song!

Hey,
Sorry the poems aren't up yet. I have learned that I shouldn't put up anything I might submit for publication ever because being on a website counts as "previously published," so I'm trying to come up with a group of poems that are good enough to put on a website but not ones I'd ever submit for anything. Other than that, new song! Finished lyrics/chords yesterday; still practicing and making sure nothing needs to be modified, but the title will be up on the page soon once I nail that down as well. Sorry nothing has been recorded recently -- I'm working on it and I'll try to get something up soon. Hope you're having a good Friday the 13th with no mishaps or misfortunes, and be on the lookout, as before, for the poem and song-title stuff. Peace,
Fiona

My first real post. Also, Mexican food!

Yay! Okay, I've never had a blog, so if it gets boring, tell me and I will try to introduce elements of excitement. Anyway, new website! New song stuff! New Mexican grocery store! Huzzah! I went today to Dos Hermanos in Ypsilanti, my first trip to such, and it was so exciting and delicious because many of the ingredients for the food I ate during my month in Mexico were available for purchase there, as well as a lot of the convenience foods. Oh Jumex, how I missed you. But yes, new website, new songs, although nothing recorded yet. I still have to edit the first section of the Music page, so they're not all listed yet, but here they are, in the order in which they were written:
The Gene Wilder Song
What I Meant
October
The World's First Acoustic Robot (though this is probably NOT going on the album....)
Girl on the Train
The memorization song (as of yet untitled... I'm working on it.)
Also, I wrote some kids' songs. They are pretty silly, though, and mostly just a way to keep myself from going nuts with all the babysitting I've been doing lately. (Clients who chance upon this page: I begrudge nothing. I love babysitting. It is just that every so often one must expel the thoughts/sayings/etc of one's small charges from one's head by force in order to stay sane. You know how it is.) So yeah, poems and a change to the song list coming soon, and possibly more songs uploaded from the first CD -- it depends on how much embarrassment I decide I'm willing to face. :-) Be well, everybody, and thanks for stopping by!
